MHM Presentations – Government High School, Kunj & Nakhla Academy, Abbottabad
#SocietyForYouth arranged another 2 #YouthMenstrualHealth2022 Campaign sessions at Government High School, Kunj, and Nakhla Academy, in Abbottabad. The sessions collectively served more than 300 young female students from grades 6-10th.
The sessions focused on creating a candid environment where students could openly speak about their experiences of #menstrualhealth.
These sessions highlighted the negative effects of improper menstrual health care and identified genuine and responsible health care practices for the students. These sessions an important and eye-opening experience for majority of the students. These students deal with popular myths and taboos that prevent them from obtaining information regarding proper menstrual care.
SFY aims to create spaces that provide not only mutual emotional support through such tough experiences. But is also cognizant of the educational and informational needs of students around topics like #menstrualhealth. The #YouthMenstrualHealth2022 is fostering special engagement with scores of students, not only educating them but enabling them to participate and lead the discourse around #menstrualhealth. With the intentional inclusion of previously neglected or under-attended communities such as Madrassas and Government Schools, the #YouthMenstrualHealth2022 is an exceptional momentum builder in serving these communities that have traditionally remained on the periphery.
Thank you to Principals Ma’am Attiya Saeed from GGHS and Ma’am Sara Azim from Nakhla Academy for their thorough and dedicated support in helping us raise awareness around menstrual health. Thank you to SFY leaders Sana Ahmed and Zainab Humayun for their exceptional grassroots leadership in leading these critical and sensitive conversations.
