4oin4 Campaign
#40in4Campaign – Al Masoom Grammar School
SFY organized its 5th session of the #40in4Campaign at Al-Masoom Grammar School( AMS), in Nankana Sahib as part of #YouthMenstrualHealth Initiative. Session served 50 girls from grade 7-10.
The session facilitated discussions on proper and responsible menstrual health management. It highlighted the risks associated with lack of proper care, as well as mitigation of other health risks rising from improper care. The session facilitated a conversation on environmentally responsible menstrual healthcare and the community health outcomes of effective care.

Since the students considered Menstrual healthcare or discussion about menstruation itself a taboo topic, many students found it challenging to engage in conversations on #YouthMenstrualHealth. The #40In4Campaign, like in a number of other schools created a space for students to engage meaningful on the subject. It was the first time students had been invited to participate in an awareness session on menstrual health management.
Moreover, after attending the session, girls were able to share their experiences and problems they faced such as accessibility, and affordability, as well as myths and stigma. Lack of awareness about MHM is an important factor behind myths and superstitious practices related to managing periods effectively. #SocietyForYouth is helping young women manage menstruation hygienically through up-to-date knowledge and continuous awareness.
We are thankful to Principal Madam Fareeda Salim for her support in raising awareness among AMS students regarding periods. We are thankful to SFY leader Nida Nasreen for leading and Samra Arshad and Amina Khalid for volunteering to facilitate the session.
