#40in4Campaign – Wisdom House School and College, in Abbottabad
SFY organized its 9th session of #40in4Campaign as part of #YouthMenstrualHealth in wisdom House School and College, in Abbottabad where 60 students from grades 9-12 diligently attended the session.
The session shed light on how menstruation is a norma
l and healthy part of life but continues to be constrained by cultural taboos and discriminatory social norms. Therefore, resulting in a lack of information about menstruation which exacerbates unhygienic and unhealthy menstrual practices that can pose serious health risks for women. SFY is successfully tackling such problems by raising awareness and facilitating conversations on Menstrual Hygiene practices that are imperative to improve health and can help young girls manage periods with dignity and without discomfort or fear.
SFY aims to integrate MHM Education in schools as young students need to learn and can be valuable agents of change by implementing and sharing what they learn with others. Most importantly, this can put an end to period shame that persists in many circles in the country.
Thank you to principal Shazia Shafique for her support in this endeavor. Grassroot organizing is all about empowering leaders to take initiative in their communities.
Thank you to SFY leaders Zainab and Ayesha, and volunteers Maham and Mahnoor for organizing this session.
