#40In4Campaign – Al-Masoom College Nankana Sahib
The #40In4Campaign completed its 13th session at Al-Masoom College Nankana Sahib highlighting the importance of #YouthMenstrualHealth. This MHM session served 48 students of grade 1st year to 4th year, which is also the eldest cohort of the campaign.
Students of grade 1st year to 4th year had never attended this kind of a session before. And were unaware of how to effectively manage menstrual health safely. They were excited to have this session and attended with full concentration.
SFY’s key goal for the #40In4Campaign is to spread awareness among young girls and to help them learn about menstrual health management. The session informed the students on hygienic practices that need to be incorporated into daily practice. And also highlighted the health risks of unsafe and unhygienic practices.
The students were concerned and identified which unhygienic practices they followed, also sharing their stories and experiences they went through and the problems they are faced. They also identified the lack of mentorship around menstrual health and readily accessible help in cases of menstrual problems, which inevitably leads to quite suffering. This session was a successful attempt to encourage and create practices and spaces for young girls , where they feel free to talk about menstruation with their teachers, parents regarding menstrual health management.
SFY is grateful to Madam Zunaira, Principal of Al-Masoom College (AMC) for allowing us to conduct a session on MHM in their institute. SFY is also thankful to leader our Nida Nasreen and volunteers Amina Khalid and Samra Arshad for contributing to the #40in4Campaign.
