#YouthPeaceInitiative – Orbit Group of Colleges and the MARS School and College, in Rustam

; SocietyForYouth Organized 2 workshops on “Introduction to Peacebuilding” and “Infected; Why Quality Leadership is Contagious” at the Orbit Group of Colleges and the MARS School and College, in Rustam, Mardan. Both workshops served approximately 100 students from 1st and 2nd years.
Students discussed and reflected on concepts of peace-building and using their faith values to promote peaceful ideas in their communities. They also studied and analyzed case studies from Niger Delta, Nigeria, and Kohistan, the role of civil society actors, and the varying ways in which peacebuilding activities can be undertaken. Students examined three forms of violence: individual, institutional, and structural, and discussed possibilities and ideas of negative and positive peace.
Students also learned about the practice of public leadership and the ways in which their personal challenges, and achievements define their public leadership journey. They also discussed the role that social factors and forces play in shaping one’s personality, goals, and behaviors. Students discussed and reflected on the importance and role of a “willpower role model” that can be a positive and holistic source of guidance in times of crisis, and challenges. They were excited to know about the various case studies such as the Framingham Heart Study to learn about the power of social groups, and ideas like Social Proof and Goal Contagion that influence our leadership impact.
Thank you to Sir Khanzeb, principal of Orbit Group of Colleges, and Sir Zakir, Principal of MARS School and College, for their wonderful support in organizing both these workshops. We are also thankful to International Center for Religion and Diplomacy, as well as our local leaders who helped make the #YPI22_23 possible.
