SocietyForYouth organized its 33rd #YouthMenstrualHealth session as part of #40in4Campaign at Alfalah International Public School, Abbottabad. Students from grades 7th-12th attended the session to gain true and factual knowledge on Menstrual Hygiene Management.
The objective of the workshops was to establish a candid and secure setting in which students could speak honestly about their experiences with menstrual health. The detrimental impacts of poor menstrual health management, which can result in infections and menstrual irregularities, were also emphasized throughout this session. The session also highlighted the need for women to adopt ethical and responsible menstrual practices for their health and wellbeing. Many girls struggle with prevailing stereotypes and taboos that hinder them from learning about how to take care of their periods properly.
In particular, #SocietyForYouth encourages discussions and solutions around topics and areas that have historically received little attention. #40In4Campaign is particularly focused on improving indigenous leadership capacity and these sessions are helping construct a leadership infrastructure that will allow us to subsequently focus on other issues that affect our communities.
We share our deep-felt gratitude for Principal, Ma’am Sobia for her phenomenal support of the #40IN4campaign. Thank you to SFY leader Zainab and volunteer Sana for leading this session.
