Whispers of Woman Hood #LIMEPAKISTAN
Issues of shyness, and discomfort, come to surface with greater concern with male teaching staff. A girl from grade 7 shared her experience of staining her clothes during her period. Since her teacher was male, she was hesitant to discuss the issue with him. Instead, she hid in the school’s washroom for nearly an hour. She tried to wash the stains and waited for her shirt to dry. The girl felt deeply embarrassed to face her classmates because menstruation was considered a taboo topic in her class. It was seen as something strange and shameful, rather than a natural and normal bodily process.
