Three Years of Sparking Change:
The SFY x Sparkshare Partnership
For over three years, a powerful synergy has been brewing between SFY and our international partner, Sparkshare, Boston. What began in 2022 as a collaboration to build capacity has evolved into a cornerstone of our mission, proving that when global best practices meet local expertise, the results are nothing short of revolutionary.
Our partnership isn’t just about sharing resources; it’s about a shared vision for systemic justice. From 2022 through 2026, our team has immersed itself in Sparkshare’s comprehensive frameworks for project management and Design Thinking. However, we didn’t just keep these insights in a textbook. We localized them, adapted them, and launched our flagship Youth Leadership Development Program (YLDP).Our Process: From Theory to ImpactWe believe that true leadership is grown through a rigorous, four-stage journey:
1. LEARN: We engage with Sparkshare to master high-level skills in design and implementation.
2. DESIGN: Our team translates these global methodologies into culturally relevant solutions that actually work for our local demographic.
3. IMPLEMENT: We bring these projects to life on the ground, delivering hands-on training directly to our students.
4. IMPACT: This is where the ripple effect begins. Our students become empowered to design their own community projects, turning one spark into a wildfire of change.
The Holistic Leader Experience
This isn’t a casual commitment. Our leaders dedicate an average of 15-20 hours per week, attending strategy meetings and applying Sparkshare methodologies to real-life challenges. The curriculum is a unique blend: Sparkshare provides the fundamentals of Design Thinking, SFY bridges the gap with training on bias awareness and leadership, and Practical Experience ensures every fellow is testing their ideas in the real world.The results of this intense, three-year journey are best told by the leaders themselves.
