Story from a School Principal – #40in4Campaign #LIMEPAKISTAN
A principal recounted to an SFY leader a distressing incident from her own experience. She recalled a time when one of her classmates, who had lost her mother, had no knowledge about menstruation and unexpectedly started bleeding in the middle of a class.
The situation was alarming as the bleeding was heavy, resulting in stained clothes and chairs. Everyone in the class was filled with fear and confusion. It became evident that the girl had never been guided on how to manage her periods due to the absence of her mother and lack of support from others. Overwhelmed with emotions, she was left crying and terrified.
This incident deeply impacted the principal, prompting her to emphasize the importance of creating a safe and open environment for students to discuss their MHM issues without hesitation. She was determined to ensure that her students were well-informed about MHM, empowering them to navigate their menstrual health with confidence and support.
#LIMEPakistan seeks to empower educators like these with the knowledge, tools, and resources to create a safe and supportive environment for menstrual health management for young girls and women in their classrooms.
